The NFL has initiated an investigation into claims of inappropriate conduct against Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker, following a report by the Baltimore Banner on Thursday. Six massage therapists have accused Tucker of misconduct during sessions from 2012 to 2016, his initial five seasons in the league.
The accusations, which Tucker strongly denies, allege that his actions during these sessions were "egregious," causing some therapists to cut sessions short or refuse future work with him. The Banner's report also mentioned that two spas prohibited Tucker from their locations.
"We became aware of the allegations from the reporter investigating this story as they were not previously disclosed to the NFL," a league spokesperson stated. "We take any allegation seriously and will investigate the matter."
As per the Banner, four of the massage therapists are represented by a lawyer specializing in sexual abuse and harassment cases, and they "shared similar experiences about Tucker."
Tucker addressed the allegations on X (formerly Twitter), labeling them "unequivocally false." "Throughout my career as a professional athlete, I have always aimed to conduct myself with the highest professionalism," Tucker asserted. "I have never been accused of misconduct of any kind, nor have I been accused of inappropriate behavior in front of a massage therapist or during a massage therapy session or other bodywork. I have never received complaints from a massage therapist, been dismissed from a session, or been informed that I was unwelcome at any spa or business."
Tucker’s lawyers also refuted the allegations, telling the Banner that "Mr. Tucker has never acted inappropriately during any massage therapy session, certainly not in the manner described [by the Banner], and any suggestion otherwise is a fictitious and utterly baseless claim."
The Ravens organization issued a statement acknowledging the report and Tucker’s response. "We are aware of the Baltimore Banner's story regarding Justin Tucker as well as his response," the team stated. "We take any allegations of this nature seriously and will continue to monitor the situation."
Tucker, an undrafted free agent from the University of Texas, joined the Ravens in 2012. He has since become the most accurate kicker in NFL history, earning seven Pro Bowl selections and winning a Super Bowl with Baltimore in 2012.
