There's a wave of optimism sweeping through Philadelphia as the Eagles prepare for their Wild Card Weekend matchup against the Green Bay Packers.
Star quarterback Jalen Hurts returned to practice on Wednesday, a significant step in his recovery from a concussion suffered in Week 16 against the Washington Commanders.
"He'll be out there today," head coach Nick Sirianni confirmed to reporters. "We'll get you the injury report after practice. We'll see how it goes, but we'll get you the injury report after practice today."
Hurts missed the final two games of the regular season, with backup quarterbacks Gardner Minshew and Tanner McKee filling in. Wednesday's practice marks his first on-field action since the injury, and Sirianni expressed confidence in Hurts' ability to quickly regain his rhythm.
"This is why you practice," Sirianni emphasized. "This is why you go through the process of practicing and all the things that you do at practice to get on the same page and do everything there. We feel like we practice at a very high intensity level. This is why you go out there and do those things."
The extent of Hurts' participation in practice will be revealed later in the day with the release of the official injury report.
The Eagles and Packers faced off earlier this season in a historic matchup in São Paulo, Brazil, with Philadelphia emerging victorious 34-29. In that game, Hurts completed 20 of 34 passes for 278 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions.
Hurts' return to practice provides a major boost to the Eagles' playoff hopes. The next few days will be crucial in determining his availability for Sunday's pivotal game at Lincoln Financial Field.
