Chelsea FC's frontline is bursting with talent as they prepare for Friday's crucial FIFA Club World Cup 2025 quarter-final against Palmeiras. With the recent return of Nicolas Jackson from suspension and the timely arrival of João Pedro, head coach Enzo Maresca now boasts a formidable array of offensive firepower.

The Blues have been actively reinforcing their squad for the prestigious tournament, highlighted by this week's significant acquisition of João Pedro from Brighton & Hove Albion. The Brazilian international provides Maresca with a highly versatile forward, adept at operating as a central striker, a second striker, or even in an attacking midfield role. The 23-year-old has joined the London outfit just in time for the quarter-final clash at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, where he could make his anticipated debut. Pedro's signing marks Chelsea’s second offensive reinforcement of the summer, following the earlier recruitment of striker Liam Delap from Ipswich Town.

Here's a closer look at the multitude of attacking players who could feature in Maresca’s starting XI or from the bench against Palmeiras:

Nicolas Jackson The often-unpredictable striker is back in contention after serving a two-game suspension, incurred by his second red card in four matches during the 3-1 defeat to CR Flamengo. While Jackson has rejoined training this week, it would be a surprising move for Maresca to name him in the starting lineup against Palmeiras.

Liam Delap The 22-year-old has led the line in Chelsea's last two fixtures and is steadily adapting to Maresca’s tactical framework. He notably netted his inaugural Chelsea goal in the dominant 3-0 victory over Espérance. At present, Delap offers a reliable and consistent option upfront and is expected to retain his spot as the primary striker.

Pedro Neto The dynamic Portuguese winger has been in red-hot form, scoring in all three of his Club World Cup appearances thus far. He has been deployed on the right flank twice and once on the left, but is likely to revert to his customary position as the right-sided attacker as Chelsea push for a semi-final berth.

Noni Madueke Madueke has found himself on the fringes due to Maresca’s frequent lineup adjustments, which have often seen Neto and Cole Palmer occupying the wide left position. The England international was an unused substitute in the thrilling 4-1 extra-time triumph against SL Benfica, suggesting he might be overlooked once again for this crucial fixture.

Cole Palmer Palmer's role against Palmeiras will largely hinge on Maresca’s midfield strategy, especially with Moises Caicedo's suspension. He could revert to his familiar number 10 position if Enzo Fernandez partners with Romeo Lavia or Dario Essugo in the deeper midfield roles. However, Maresca is more inclined to prioritize defensive stability, which might see Palmer given a free-roaming role as the left-sided winger.

Christopher Nkunku The versatile French international was initially envisioned as Chelsea’s multifaceted offensive weapon, capable of excelling in various forward positions. However, his two seasons with the Blues have been somewhat underwhelming. With João Pedro’s arrival, Nkunku’s playing time could diminish, despite having scored the extra-time winner against Benfica.

João Pedro The newest recruit has been brought in to deliver an immediate impact. Should Chelsea be chasing a late goal against Palmeiras, João Pedro is a strong candidate to make his Chelsea debut as one of Maresca’s impactful late substitutes.
